All Connections Are Boundaries (2018) on Iiris Kaarlehdon ja Inka Kynkäänniemen puolituntinen videoteos. Teos kehkeytyy taiteilijoiden itsensä esittämien hahmojen ympärille muodostuvista tarinoista. Teoksen tapahtumat sijoittuvat itseään ja ympäristöään havainnoivaan taloon, joka toimii videon kertojaäänenä. Videolla esiintyvät, taiteilijoiden kaltaiset, kankaiset nukkeolennot käyvät harhailevan humoristisia keskusteluja, jotka johdattavat ajatuksia kohti epätäydellisyydestä iloitsevaa, lempeän kumouksellista tulevaisuutta. Puhe kiertyy esimerkiksi rinnakkaiselon ja jakamisen, surun ja pelon sekä moderniteetin kyseenalaistamisen ympärille. Hahmojen kaipuu merkitysten ja yhteyksien kokemuksiin, huolimatta kommunikaation hankaluudesta, paikallistuu puheeseen, jonka keskiössä on juuri tämän hankaluuden jakaminen.

muodostama työpari, joka työskentelee veistosten, esinekoosteiden, liikkuvan kuvan, tekstin ja niistä muodostuvien installaatioiden parissa.

All Connections Are Boundaries (2018) is a 30 minute film by Iiris Kaarlehto and Inka Kynkäänniemi. It revolves around stories played out by a variety of characters, performed by the artists themselves. The scenes take place in and outside of a living, talking house who contemplates life and its inhabitants from the timeless viewpoint of an omniscient narrator. Throughout the video two cloth-doll figures, the artists’ look-alikes, have wandering and humorous conversations guiding thoughts towards joy of imperfection and gently subversive future. Their talk wanders around coexistence and sharing, grief and fear, and questioning the modernity. The characters’ yearning for meanings and connections, despite the difficulty ofcommunication, takes place in the speech that keeps the sharing of that difficulty at its core.

Finland. Together they work with sculptures, object assemblages, moving image, text and installations comprising of these elements.
